In the family since 1965

Max Bringmann KG

Max Bringmann KG, brand name folia®, was launched in 1965 and is still in the family. What began all those decades ago as a 3-person business producing aluminium foil items for the crafts market is now an international company with around 200 employees.

Over the years, Max Bringmann has become a market leader in Europe and now supplies customers around the world.

The history of folia®

  • Three-person business set up by Max Bringmann to sell aluminium foil for the crafts market.

  • The range of products expands so much that the company moves to new premises in January 1969.

  • The company moves its headquarters to Nürnberg-Altenfurt industrial estate: this is an opportunity to find more a permanent site and expand production capacity.

  • The company sets up its own print shop. Production processes are optimised and the product range extended.

  • One after the other, all three brothers (Alexander, Markus and Michael Bringmann) join their father’s business, where they still work today.

  • Rapid growth, an every-growing product range and the resulting capacity problems in the Altenfurt production facilities and office building mean a completely new logistics concept is needed. In 1997, work starts on a new site. Soon afterwards, the company moves to Wendelstein, near Nuremberg...

  • ... An advanced logistics system, c. 10,000 m² of product and warehouse facilities with the latest high rack systems and 1500 m² of office space are created. The company focuses on the systematic development of international markets and greater investment in import activities. Max Bringmann KG becomes a strong force on the global market.


  • Production and warehouse space is extended to 16,000 m². New markets are developed and the workforce increased.

  • The company is a winner of the BAYERNS BEST 50 competition that recognises the 50 strongest-growing owner-managed businesses based in Bavaria.

  • A further 2500 m² expansion of production and warehouse capacity with a further 5000 pallet spaces added. The company now has a total capacity of 18,500 m² with space for 20,000 pallets.

  • We are awarded the LGA tested "safety & contamination" certificate for our complete range of craft items and toys. 

  • Launch of BSCI auditing for our suppliers on the basis of the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The aim is to improve working conditions and social standards in our supply countries.

  • A further 3500 m² expansion of warehouse capacity is added with space for another 5000 pallets, 400 m² of loading space and a further 400 m² of office space. The company now has a total capacity of 23,000 m² with space for 25,000 pallets.

  • Bringmann Druck GmbH has been part of Max Bringmann KG since 1 January 2016.The print shop performs all the printing services offered in the past, and also continues to manage the accounts of the external print shop customers.

  • Since May 2016 Max Bringmann KG has been a member of FTA/BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). Adherence to the BSCI-Code of Conduct – at supplier level as well – is a paramount objective. Further measures, for example in the form of supplier training courses, are intended to ensure that in the producer countries, and particularly with our own suppliers, national and international statutory provisions governing social aspects and protection of the environment are complied with.

  • Since 2019, Max Bringmann KG has been certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. The certification is another important building block towards achieving even more quality, safety, transparency and customer satisfaction. With this, we are treading a path which we have already been developing for many years, as our objective is to constantly improve our product quality, procedures and internal processes.
